Due to a resurgence in popularity of air-cooled Volkswagens, the Pauter 1.48 Type 4 rockers are now available.

As of the end of March, 2012, all of our Type 1 & Type 4 rockers will be transitioned to non-needle bearing type (as pictured above) where the aluminum body will ride directly on the hardened shaft. This type of joint has proven itself over the last two years of testing and in actuality, this type of contact wear surface replicates what you see in piston to wristpin joints in millions of vehicles. After this transition, all needle-bearing (at shaft) rockers would be special order.
Latest version feeds oil to shaft and roller tip/valve spring/guide areas of valvetrain.

We continue to offer a number of high quality performance engine parts for Type 1 and Type 4 factory based engines. These are all proven components, the distillation of years of broad based product development and racing experience. As with our own line of Super Pro products, most of these pieces (except for some of the smaller cam profiles and single springs) are geared to the more extreme end of the performance spectrum.
Camshaft and spring combinations in particular can be problematic for these engines, as stock-based equipment was never designed to handle the lifts, spring pressures or valve sizes imposed by today's racers. This is an area we have a great deal of experience in and can recommend workable solutions as well as steer you away from less desirable combinations.

Single or multi-stage CenterFlo oil pumps and Pauter 4340 billet rods for any Type 1 or Type 4 engines are offered. Other than being manufactured to fit those units, the parts are identical to our standard products described in the pump and rod sections of this website. Please refer to those sections for more information.
Type 4 Pauter Super Pro
racing heads
The Type 4 Pauter racing heads are based on our Super Pro head casting, with all of the benefits of that design, including the six stud rocker arm configuration and superior strength. These heads are machined to accept Type 4 cylinder bore spacing and stud patterns. Pauter Type 4 Super Pro pushrod tubes are available to fit the Type 4 block as well.

Here's something we've been working on to cure some of the inherent head sealing problems found in 94-96.7mm (call tech for 101.6mm - 4") high-boost and/or nitrous engine programs. It's not something everyone may need but those who do will surely understand the advantages.
This relatively simple design will eliminate the age-old problem of head seal issues related to "bending" the head over the cylinder caused by a stud layout completely outside the sealing surface. This concept is closely related to our modular cylinder assembly found in our Big Block line and extends that setups obvious benefits to more conventional engine programs.

For those who, for one reason or another, choose not to modify their cases for the additional 2 studs per hole, there is another way. The pictures above show 2 threaded studs in place of 2 through holes for easy addition of the 6-stud option without any modification to existing or assembled engine cases.

Depending on casting platform, not all heads are suitable for this modification.
